Is this year going to be the year you do something amazing? The year you plan something you will never forget? Try Aintree ‘On Ice!’
When you live in a city like Liverpool we are spoiled when it comes to racing. Home to The Grand National, considered one of the worlds greatest horse races. It’s estimated that around 600 MILLION people tune in to watch the Aintree event from over 140 countries across the globe. So many of us jumped at the chance to head to Ladies Day as soon as we were old enough to gather the girls and order champagne at bar. Maybe you still love the races but fancy heading somewhere new? Get your Swiss Air flight booked and head to Zurich, the closest airport I could find when heading to St. Moritz last February.
St. Moritz is known for championship-level skiing, glitz, glamour and…horse racing? The White Turf race takes horses from the track to a frozen lake. Tickets start at just £22 and flights from Manchester cost approximately £200.
White Turf is a unique, exclusive, top-class event with exciting horse-racing, gourmet catering and lively music all taking place in winter sunshine on the frozen lake among the stunningly beautiful, snow-capped mountains of St Moritz. This spectacular, major event is not just one with Champagne on ice for the rich and beautiful but an annual event where race-horse owners, trainers and jockeys from all over the world meet up as well as being an unmissable fixture on the calendar for local people.
Last year I traded my fascinator for a faux fur hat and heels for snow boots to experience this brilliant alternative to Aintree or Chester!
